View From Padded Cell Block 3

As I sat in class today we were discussing what gross things people can get such as scabies, ringworm, pink eye, head lice....and my instructor says "everyone will have head lice at least once in their life...especially if you are a mom you will have to deal with your kids coming home with head lice.unless you are a superhero or something..as I know with my 3 kids all of them have come home with it"

Ok, I have never had lice, nor do I believe I ever will, and growing up my sisters and I never had lice....so was my mum a superhero? Well, I know to me she was, but I never knew she actually was to the outside world as well. I think she just educated us about these things and made sure that we didn't share combs and things with our fellow classmates...

So anyway, I just thought I needed to send "props" to my mum yet again, for being that amazing woman, who took care of her kids, kept them out of trouble (yes, you too Mangey), kept them clean and healthy, free of any broken bones, and head lice. And oh, by the way, did I tell you we all lived in a padded cell??

Dude, your teacher must be high...even with my most lice luring hairdon't of dreadlocks, as you know I've never encountered the dreaded head lice. It also helps that I'm not the touchy feely sort (despite current profession as a call girl) so I've managed to stay away from gross infected heads. Ha...that was a gross comment if ya think about it...

I never had nor did my sisters. And we were poor folks from Alabama back in the day. If my kids ever come home with it, I WILL have to go to a padded cell.

Oooh, My mom was so mad when I came home with them in fifth grade. How embarassing! i wouldn't got to school (and she wouldn't let me) until they were gone. I don't think I ever hung around that poor girl again...

There was a girl I used to work with who would say, "I think I have scabies!" and then wondered why everyone avoided her...

Also, just read article in JANE mag. about a girl who would catch a new and exciting venereal disease every time she had sex (!) I hope she is exaggerating!

I only had nits, which my Grandpa picked off my head individually, like an ape. She used to do the same thing with fleas on the dog. I think she was bored.

I've never had head lice either, but I did have a scare once. My sister, niece, and two nephews were living with me when my sister was going through a divorce. I had to pick my niece up from school because of a head lice outbreak. Every kid got the Ridz treatment that day regardless.

wow, I guess my instructor was right, everyone has had them at one time or another. I must have really grown up in a plastic bubble in a padded cell!! No wonder I am a paranoid skitzo!
